maintemplate.dwt won't update to site

I'm not getting it, that's for sure. I'm working on a site in Dreamweaver, (my first mistake, I'm a video creative) and when I revise the maintemplate.dwt I get the expected update dialog to the related files, say yes to the update, but after I 'put' the template to the http://WWW my changes are not reflected on-line. When I pull down the file from the server into Dreamweaver I see the changes I made, big as life, but when I 'View Source' in a browser from the site on the WWW, the older html is represented.

Hi Bill
The problem here is the cache of your computer. The reason for using templates etc, is that it saves the info into the cache, thus enabling the pages to load quicker as the info is stored locally.
When you update the template stuff, the page itself does not nesasarly update unless you delete all of your IE history, then it will reload all of the template settings again.
The way to get around this, is to re-upload all of the files as well when you update the template (I know this sounds silly) but then the site will re-reference all files because it knows that things on the website have changed.

Hi,
I am having the same problem with my template pages updating. When I first set them up & tested them they all worked fine. Now that I am making alot of changes they are not updating. I have 1 master & 9 nested template pages. I am loading all pages except the Templates when I publish but it still does not work. I have cloaked the Template Pages so they don't publish. In the preview browser all my changes that I made on the Templates are on the corresponding pages. I am using Dreamweaver CS4. Please help! I have alot of pages to design & publish & really need to be able to use the Templates. Thank you so much!
