Morphing photo
by Jack Webber on Jun 29, 2009 at 9:28:42 pm

Not sure I'm in the correct forum, but here goes ...

What I want to do is concoct a before and after photo, where the before photo is replaced by the after photo -- sort of a before fades to after thing. Should I use Flash for this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Jack

You can use Flash.

If you use a rollover you can easly replace your image but with no fade.

You can also create a div with a background image, then palce the second image in front. Select your second image and apply the Appear/Fade behavior (look for it in the behaviors panel, opening the puls menu, in the effects subsection).

If you are not familiar with rollovers, CSS or behaviors you can ask again.

This is a good start for me, but I have another question to follow up. If I use appear fade, does it do it automatically when the page opens, and does it do it only once? And I'm sure I can find the answer to this question as I research the technique, but is the rate at which the fade/appear occurs adjustable?

Thanks for your help!

Yes and yes and yes.

The fade can appear when you load the page, when you click on the image, when you rollover it...

Just look at the behaviors panel with your image selected and some preferences will show (if you alreade added the behavior). The default I guess is "onClick" but there's a drop down menu with many options.

When you add the behavior it opens a window with some options. You can adjust the time of the fade and other parameters.

Play a little, it's not a complex effect.
