This actually has been a problem for some time now that I cannot figure out. Whenever I try to upload from my work the connection times out. However, if I go home I never have any problems no matter the file size. I am able to upload very small files from work one out of three times, having to completely disconnect and reconnect on failures.
My internet provider at work is AT&T (dsl) and at home is Charter (cable). I have called AT&T and they can't find anything wrong. I have replaced the modem and that made no difference. Also, I am able to upload files from work through firefox or explorer (ex. photos to online albums).
I know my way around dreamweaver, but I am a beginner on the web still, so if you need anymore information, let me know.

I am using the same computer at work and at home. Any idea what I would have to do to adjust the firewall settings at work? I am looking at them now and playing around but I have not had any luck yet...

*edit* it is not just my computer having problems uploading via dreamweaver. our desktop comp is having the same problem.

Not sure what scale business you work at but it could be firewall settings in your network server / router that is causing the problem. Doesn't sound like an issue in your workstation machines. I'd talk to your network administrator about the issue to see if they have any sort of firewalls setup and if they could look into making an exception for your Dreamweaver FTP processes.
I know some basic networking but couldn't tell you how exactly to go about doing this, plus every network is setup differently.

Thanks for the help so far. Unfortunately, I am the closest thing to a network administrator here. I'll probably just keep on tinkering around with the firewall settings and see if I have any luck.
If anyone else has more information on this I would greatly appreciate the help.

Finally, someone else who has the same problem I have in DW CS3. In my case, it's easily fixed - I just go back to using the previous version (DW8) and it works flawlessly. In CS3, it goes thru the motions of uploading the tiniest files, then just when you think maybe it worked, it logs out/disconnects/times out.
FWIW, this is on a Mac G5, OS 10.4.11.
I just moved the site over to a fairly new laptop (MacBook Pro with an Intel chip and the same OS, 10.4.11) and it uploads flawlessly. So the only difference I see is the G5 vs. Intel chip.
I didn't mind so much until today, when I had to use QuickMenu code for a menu, and DW8 doesn't display it properly. So now it looks like I have to work on the laptop.
I think this is a job for DW tech support... We can't be the only ones...

I compared the Edit Site > Remote Info settings in DW8 vs DW CS3, and there is a new option that wasn't in DW8 called "use IPv6 transfer mode".
I enabled it, and things seem to uploading quickly and successfully. It may not last (I've had some successful uploads before, especially after a reboot of DW CS3) but maybe it's worth checking out.

I am in HUGE trouble as I put Leoprad 10.5 on my wife's Intel Macbook (against her wishes) and now she can't upload from DW.
I am in the DOGHOUSE!
I have spent 15min on phone with AppleCare and as Fetch works and was working before, they say it is not the Mac.
DW support said to try a lot of things with settings but still no luck!
