Moving work between computers
by Scott Witthaus on Oct 13, 2007 at 12:46:11 pm

hey all -

I am bringing a site I am working on from my work computer to home. To make all the files in the root folder available to me, should I import this site, using the Manage Sites? Or do I need to create a new site and reference that folder with the assets? Thanks in advance.

sw

You can use the manage sites export and import function to export an .ste file from your work computer and then import it to your home computer.

Another way to do it is work on the files directly on the server and download only files you want to edit, edit and then re-upload. The synchronize command comes in handy here.

The way I solved this problem for myself is I use a laptop - then there's no need to worry about synchronizing as all the files I work on at work are with me at home. Another idea might be store the site files on a flash disk...
