Hello
I have a few quicktimes movies in my website and for every movie I have a quicktime
saying "click to play". when i uploaded the site the movie appear with Interrogation
mark "?" and can not be played unless the
user right clicks on the movie and click on "open this link"

how can i change that so that it displays my "click to play" movie?
or any suggestions...
thank you very much!

I think you are missing quite a bit of code. You have the old embed tags, but I don't see the activex object id, etc.

I don't actually know how, but you're doing exactly what I have on my site, the code of which I swiped from an apple page.

Mine works, so just grab the code from one of my pages... http://www.bretwilliams.com/motiongraphics/demo.html

Hello Bret
thank you for your answer.
I dont have an activex object.. is it mandatory to have it? or could it be just a quicktime movie. I draged the quicktime movie to the page.

Thank you!

Yeah, you do.

Here's some (old) code from one of my pages. Mine is set for autoplay so it's a bit different but you see the ActiveX requirement. I had to replace < with { in orde for the code to show up.

{OBJECT CLASSID="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" WIDTH="320" HEIGHT="236" CODEBASE="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab">
{PARAM NAME="src" VALUE="demo2_LAN.mov">
{PARAM NAME="autoplay" VALUE="true">
{PARAM NAME="controller" VALUE="true">
{PARAM NAME="loop" VALUE="false">
{EMBED SRC="demo2_LAN.mov" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=236 AUTOPLAY=true CONTROLLER=true LOOP=false PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/">
{/EMBED>
{/OBJECT>

The embed tag isn't actually supported anymore from what I understand. You should include it for legacy purposes. ActiveX is supposed to be supported by all compliant browsers. Embed will probably work fine on newer browsers for simply embedding a quicktime, but not for what you're trying to do.
