Hi Guys,
Hears my question.
I have built a video that I wish to post online which is customisable to its audience. For example. There is a box that will allow the user to input their name (at the start of the video) and then throughout the video this name will show up in designated places.
Im sure this must be possible and that flash is the programme to do it, im just looking for someone to say - yep, flash is the tool and maybe even how to go about it.

of course Flash is the answer ! ( what was the question again ? ..... )
just joking. this is not too hard to set up.
have an input text box ( call it instance name "textBox1" ) that the user can input their name into.
then your video can use Cue Points to trigger the appearance of a dynamic text box ( call it instance name 'textBox2" ) that will be your video overlay. just decalre the text in dynamic "textBox2" to be equal to the text from the dynamic "textBox1"
i made a real simple, down and dirty ( not pretty ) example here:

entering a name ( and clicking the button ) will start the video, which has 4 cue points. the first one shows the inputted name over the video, the 2nd removes it, 3rd shows it again and 4th removes it again.
