H264 stutter problem
by Mike Gault on Jul 8, 2008 at 7:12:37 pm

I have created large (900x516) h264 quicktime movies for use in a training DVD-ROM. The client needs them to play in the Flash 9 player. I changed the extension to flv and then play them in a Flash program and they look fine except there is an occasional random, very short stutter.

They are at a high data rate (6000kbps) but it isn't a disc access problem, I get the same result playing off my 200MB/sec video RAID. Playing in Quicktime they are totally smooth.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated-

Mike

Have you tried actually encoding em instead of just renaming em? On2 Flix is an excellent encoder. I would give that a try.

Kind regards,
Pieter

I'll take a look at it.

Thanks

So I downloaded the demo for On2 Flix. I used the VP6-S FLV override. The quality was not as good as what I'm getting with h264 and the stutter still occurs coming off my RAID.
Any other thoughts?

Mike
