Flash video preload
by Rod on Nov 18, 2005 at 2:47:41 pm

Hi guys,

I have encoded DV with Flash 8 Video Encoder and have the video on my website and it plays just great. Only problem is that the file, which is fairly large, seems to be downloading in the background upon the web page loading. That slows down loading the whole page quite a bit, so I am hoping there is a way to initiate download only when the play button is clicked, so that only those who want to see the video have to endure the wait. Or as an alternative, is there a way to possibly change a setting so the movie loads last, after all other images/text on the page have downloaded and been displayed.

Is this easily done? Or am I mixed up about what I am seeing?

Thanks!
Rod

I was wondering the identical thing. Anyone with an answer would defnitely help me out as well. This seemingly simple task has created a lot of frustration. Although, there is probably an easy solution that I cannot solve. Thanks for posting your question.
