scrolling thumbnail panel/xml text box/video player

I'm stuck. If someone can suggest where I might go for help (ie tutorials) i'd appreciate it as I moved past desperate yesterday.
I managed to get Lee's scrolling thumbnail panel to work as buttons to load jpegs and a caption onto a page from an XML file. Now I'm trying to use the same implementation of the scrolling thumbnail panel to bring in flvs into Lee's video player, but can't seem to get it to work.
Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on the web of how to do this? I'm trying to piece together the bits i've learned about flash video and xml but my knowledge is pretty basic and i can't seem to bring it off. Help. Anyone?

I seemed to have narrowed my problem down to this. By ditching the xml component, and just reading in the text from dynamic text boxes using variables, the only thing I can't crack is how to load the flvs into the player I've created (based on Lee's tutorials) from buttons rather than the player itself. If anyone can help me out on this, I'd appreciate it.
