I've seen tutorials on baking cloners to keyframes, through Xpresso....

Can't seem to get this to work with simply a PolyFx animation.

Also tried using the SteadyBake plugin....didn't work.

Does anybody know how to do this?

Attached is a simple scene. Cube with subdivisions, PolyFX, and a Random effector. Just want to bake to keyframes...

Any help or direction would be awesome.

Thanks,

Dean

perhaps someone will know something else but since the points are not actually moving if the cube is all one piece I can only do it by following these steps

Select the cube's faces - Disconnect (uncheck Preserve Groups)
Add a PointCache tag - Store State and Calculate at this point you can turn off the PolyFX and the Effector

if you want keyframes
open the Timeline and drag the cube into it if it's not showing
select Functions/Bake Object... and make sure PLA is checked off in the settings before you hit OK

Thanks Brian,

This method works.

Just one question. What is the reason for turning off PLA, on the last step?

For me, if PLA is not engaged...No keyframes are produced in the timeline when i hit OK.

The only way it pumps out keyframes for me, is if PLA is checked.

Thanks again,

-d
