moving flag on a moving ship
by Martin Woodward on Sep 21, 2009 at 10:40:58 pm

Hi

Can anyone help guide me in the right direction. I have a ship with a flag on it. The ship moves along the z axis rotates once and then fades out. It then reappears later in the animation. I basically just want the flag to flap in the wind while moving with the ship. I have tried the cloth/belt tags but might have got the connections wrong is this the right way to do it. Lot of tutorials on flags but they are all stationary and flapping in the wind.

Professional illustrator but noob at 3D please reply in plain english and slowly!!

cheers

M

I think cloth with the belt tag is the way to go. Not sure what problem you're having.

Hi Adam

Thanks for the reply. I think what I did wrong is I cached the flag a few times to see how it looked and when I was happy I then put it in the scene, in the ship folder, it went with the ship for the first 90F and then dropped out. Not quite use to the key frame and caching bit yet. IT would work though but I have since just used the wind deformer. The flag is quite small and does not really need the complexities of the cloth tag.

cheers

Martin
