Cinema 4d 11.5 Aec File Troubles - Can't import into aec files into After Effects
by dave glanz on Sep 18, 2009 at 9:03:38 pm

Hey all,

So we upgraded to Cinema 4D 11.5 here this week, and for whatever reason, After Effects (CS4) won't import any AEC files. Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening?

Currently using a quad core intel mac, Leopard 10.5.8. The C4D.plugin is in the same directory it was when I was using C4D 10.5 (After Effects/plugins/).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

*edit*

Here's my workflow:

Cinema 4D - create object, attach an 'External Compositing' tag to the object. Add a camera, a couple lights, add a simple camera move. In Render Settings, I'm outputting a simple Quicktime file, have "Save" checked under "Compositing Project File" and "After Effects" as my Target Application. I also have the "Include 3D Data" checkbox checked.

In After Effects > Import, I select the AEC file. Nothing happens. No errors. No files. It worked fine with C4D 10.5. I'm sure I'm missing something here. I'm using the plugin from here: http://www.MAXON.net/en/downloads/updates-...es/plugins.html

Anyone else have this problem? If not, I'll call MAXON on Monday.

Here's a simple test-

Make sure you have latest version of the aec importer installed in the ae plugins folder.

Yup, you have to update the plugin. You should find it here:
