Working/ Reliable Motion blur settings?

Hi all,
I need to render out some scenes with realistic looking motion blur and wanted to get some advice.
I have both camera movement and object movement in the scene. Should I be checking both in render settings post effects?
Also, I've read a lot about limitations with Motion blur, like not working with shadows or textures with alpha channels or similar probles. Are there any things I should be aware of? Should I opt for Scene/ojbject MB or vector motion blur?
I'm up against a bit of a deadline and don't really have time to experiment, especially when MB is taking so much longer to render..
I usually work in AE and Motion blur settings there just work as expected. Any tips to get this working smoothly would be appreciated.

Scene Motion blur is the most reliable and has the best quality. The default settings are pretty good. Unfortunately it's also the slowest by far, but you can minimize that somewhat by reducing or turning off anti-aliasing. If it's still too slow you can reduce the steps from 16 to 9. Five may be too few.
Object motion blur doesn't work with camera animation, and I don't *think* VMB does either, but I could be wrong about that.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for that. I went with scene motion blur and it totally worked as expected, even when rendering 16x sampling. For the rendering, I was actually able to get the sequence rendered super quick and really quite inexpensive over at : www.renderrocket.com. I highly recommend the setup they have. Certainly the beast render farm service I have used and I will be using again.

Err Jethro, you've totally got the wrong end of the stick there!!
I was simply recommending a service I used to get me out of a pickle, athough re-reading my post, I could see how you might get that impression. I only recommended it because I know how long motion blur takes to render and we all face tight deadlines..
So just to clarify, I am NOT anything to do with renderrocket or any other render service whatsoever!!!.. In future I'll think twice about what I write.
