Thinking Particles - Particle Orientation
by Mathew Power (spewperb) on Sep 23, 2008 at 8:09:25 am

Hi everyone. How do I set the orientation of the particles from an emitter with thinking particles. I am using a cuboid as the particle and I want to orientate it so it is pointing in the direction of travel. How can I do this?

I post an extremely simple example here:

Rotate the Pyramid primitive and press play.

Hi Randy, thanks for your help. What I forgot to say was that the particles are emitting out from a centre point so each particles needs to be orientated differently depending on where it fires from.

ha ha yea that changes it.
I am not sure how you would do that "properly" Hopefully Brian or Adam can help you.
With that said, i would make different particle groups that go in the different directions. I would also use an invisible polygon rather than a centre point to control the direction.

Pretty easy, fortunately. Just check the "tangential" box in the emitter's properties. :)
