simple question. how do i import obj files into c4d 9.6.
I'm sort of new to the program and haven't figured it out yet.

Just use File>Open or Merge.
Cinema's native .obj importer doesn't keep track of materials, but there's a free plugin call Riptide that can do that and has many more i/o options.
