Applying text to falling box using gravity solver (how to merge materials?)
by Jethro Hutchinson on Sep 10, 2008 at 3:22:03 pm

Hi there,

I am trying to have a number of boxes fall from the sky using a gravity solver. Before applying the solver i want to create the box with text on it which is made of a different material. For the solver to work, I need to make the box and text editable.

My question is this: How does one make the text and the box one editable object whilst getting them both to keep the separate materials applied to them before making them editable?

Thanks,

Jethro.

make the objects editable and apply the textures, then select the objects and do a Functions/Connect this gives you another object which is original objects joined with the textures on the right parts (the original bits don't go away you can toss them or hide them whatever you prefer).

You could do it by Connecting the parts first then doing your own Selection tags to use with the textures but texturing first and Connecting means you don't have to make the Selection tags yourself.
