3d car into AE 2d scene

Hello,
I am brand new to C4D. I am using version 9.6. I have a project where I need to animate a 3D car (VW Beetle from Dosch Design)in C4D,and then take the animation into after effects to add it to a 2D scene (illustrator cartoon drawing). The 3D car will be driving through the scene on different roads. I imported an .ai file into C4d as a texture on a plane, created a spline drawing and aligned the car to the spline to animate. I exported as a .tiff sequence and imported into AE, but the animation doesn't line up with the road.
Is there an easier or more efficient process to get the animations of the car better? What's the best way?
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
