XPresso Gears and Rotation
by Dan Barter on Aug 26, 2008 at 2:00:59 pm

Hi all,

I'm sure this is an easy one for some XPresso expert. I'm trying to animate the classic gear 1-gear 2, and can't figure out how to make gear 2 rotate in the correct, opposite direction as gear 1. I can build the XPresso that turns gear2 when I turn gear 1, but it turns it in the same direction. How do I reverse the direction? I can't seem to find a node or input to allow me to enter a negative value. Can someone point me in the correct direction, cause the manual reads like stereo instructions and is not very helpful.

Thanks

Dan...

math node (multipy a negative)
a range mapper would also get the job done....you will have to learn that one when you start adding more gears.

Randy,

The range mapper bumps my gears out of alignment when I set it up. Not sure why that's happening. I tried the Math.add and changed the node to multiply -1, but it didn't work. Can you give me a few more details about this, please? I'm a little new with XPresso.

Ok, I see this now. Seems to be working for me. I'm going to try to add a few more gears now, so hopefully this won't explode on me. Man, someone needs to write a really good book on XPresso. They'd make a fortune. :)

Thanks Randy
