rotate solver object??
by taco potma on Aug 12, 2008 at 6:26:57 pm

hello

is it possible to rotate the plate where two cubes are falling on with gravity.
im using the solver object and gravity to let the cubes fall from the sky, but now i want to rotate the plate where they are falling on. i am having the same problem over and over, that the plate rotates but the cubes just fall and stay on the plate. They dont rotate at all. i hope that anybody can help me.

Animate the plane first then put it in the solver object. (same applies to cloth colliders)

i've tried your suggestion but it didn't worked. maybe i need to explain my problem a bit better. i want to make a cube fall onto an object that rotates. for example an cube that is falling onto an rotating cube. i use the solver object and gravity to make the object fall, i also added the rigid body dynamics tag. When the cube has fallen onto the cube i want the both cubes to rotate. i keep getting the problem that the cubes falls and dont rotate. the other cubes spins but the cube with gravity does nothing. hopes this clears thing up a bit.

So you want the object to rotate as it falls?
After you have your rigid body tag on the cube, select the cube in the object manager (top right) and now in the attribute manager (bottom right) you have a new tab "rigid body dynamic" you can set the mass so it is off balance and will rotate. generally wind will help this too.

Personally I use cloth for most dynamics since it is more perdictible. there is a couple example files linked from here:

haha then my first answer was what I meant.
Here is a quick file. Its far from good but its the basic set up.
