Any decent tutorials on animation objects along a path?

Not much to it, really. Draw your path spline, assign your object an "align-to-spline" tag, and animate the tag's offset parameter.

I'm VERY new at animation and 3D programming in general.

What do you mean by "animate the tag's offset parameter"?

Align to spline tag works on cameras too. You get the tag by right clicking on the object you want to have the tag, its inside Cinema 4d tag: align to spline
