Hi there , i am getting really frustrated in C4D , how do i export a video correctly , up till now i have been doing Render Preview and making the settings high quality...is this right? the reason i ask is because i cant get an alpha channel that way even though i have got all the right things checked in render settings?
can someone please let me know the correct way to get a video out of c4d that includes an alpha channel...basically i want to put a moving object over video nb fcp or afx... simple right

on the top panel below the drop down menus you can see 3 shutterboards. The one you are pressing to get your preview movies is the one to the left. If you click the one in the middle once with your left mouse button it will render the movie with the settings you have used under the render settings section, including your alpha channel.
Hope i explained this clearly enough. I had the same problem when i started with C4D. I must admit that it is not very intuitive.

If you are rendering to a quicktime file (best for use in FCP) You will need to put depth to millions of colors+. That + is your alpha. Otherwise FCP sees the alpha as black...even if the alpha settings are on straight.

No, no, no.
Look in the render settings: output, you will see Frame...mine defaults to current frame change that to one of the other options AND / OR right next to that you have two spots that say #F there you can set the frame range you want to export.ie 1 to 100.
