Bend deformer not working correctly

Hello guys...my bend deformer seems to be not working when i drop it into say a cube it bends okay but it does not bend the cube in a smooth manner it actually stretches it more of in a straight manner....any help ?

Thx for the response, actually before then i was able to use the bend on a cube with the default segments i have attached an image to show you what am talking about
