I need to bring a logo from Photoshop into C4D. I thought the way to do this was to from Photoshop Export>Paths to Illustrator. Then in C4D go Merge and open the file and the Spline of the logo would appear. Not happening.
I've seen this done before. Anyone know what I'm referring to?

this can indeed be done under these conditions: you must have paths (vectors) in the psd file. also, multiple layers of paths either need to be combined or exported seperately. Not certain if cs3 does anything to the paths that earlier photoshop didn't, so if it doesn't work as expected, open up the paths in Illustrator and resave them as .ai version 8 or earlier... then try merging again. It would seem that maybe that cs version of PS exports version 9+ paths, I dunno. My regular CS version works ok though. In your paths menu of photoshop, how may layers of paths are showing? Does the new version of ps have any .ai export options for legacy versions?

I opened up CS2 and CS3 and they both DON'T have any export for .ai. Just Export>Paths To Illustrator.
I'm not that proficient with Photoshop so I don't even know what you're referring to when you say paths menu and how many layers. If you have time I'd appreciate the guidance.
Also, I could send you this logo and maybe you could make it where I can Import/Merge the right file in C4D.

I suggest that you post in the photoshop forum. First you need an understanding of vectors (for 3d) vs bitmap files (pictures). I suspect that your photoshop file contains no vectors (paths) to export. Drawing these paths can be a time consuming process.

I'll refer you back to my previous post, where I stated that you probably do not have any paths to export in your photoshop file, therefore there is nothing to merge in C4d. Photoshop does not automatically create paths for you, they must be built, using various possible methods. to check if you have these paths, simply open the paths menu in photoshop. Its a layer-like menu that shows thumbnails and the name of your path/s If you have them, then of course something else has gone wrong. If not, you've got some drawing to do.

If your paths don't already exist in your photoshop file, why not draw them in Cinema 4d? Save the PSD file to JPEG and set it as a background image in Cinema 4d in a non-perspective view using configure>back. Then draw the paths using one of the splines (I prefer bezier). This method saves you the trouble of exporting paths from Photoshop to Cinema 4D.
