looping noise
by Donal (donal) on Nov 14, 2005 at 7:23:35 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to render out a looping animation that will play in the constantly in the background of a movie. I've got animated noise on the difussion channel in a texture but I'm not sure how to go about setting it to a seamless loop. Does anybody know if this is possible.

Thanks a mil
Donal

Not anymore afaik. It was for awhile via a plugin by Bodhinut/Cidertank/Core Arsenal, but that's been discontinued.

If you have After Effects, Fractal Noise (or one of the other default noises) loops. If you combine this with other effects such as displacement you can get some interesting patterns.

Render out an image sequence (or a movie) of a BW noise, duplicate the images renumber the copies in a reverse order and apply the sequence to a channel.
This will not loop, but ping-pong, which may be good enough.
