Website Video Formats
by Jay Knollmiller on Oct 2, 2009 at 1:14:25 am

Wanted to get people's opinion's on the different formats of video for online viewing. I am in the processing of redesigning my site and I'm looking at a couple different options. I was thinking of either converting my demo reels to h.264 or flash. I was also looking at Youtube and Vimeo although I'm not sure if that changes the quality. I want to make sure it's a format that can easily be viewed on Mac or PC. Any info or feedback would be gladly appreciated. Thank you.

Obviously, one of the nice things about YouTube or Vimeo is that they host the content for you.

I think Vimeo still has the edge on quality. This page should help you get the absolute best quality:

Thank you Scott for the reply. I think I will give Vimeo a try.

Another excellent option is the JW Player. It will do a nice job playing your H.264 file, and it will be very easily accessible for your audience.
