What's the point of having a killer Final Cut Pro system if you can't talk with the rest of your video hardware? Two of the most respected names in FCP hardware and workflow will show off their latest tools to help FCP users.
Thanks to Jim Weingard at BKW for arranging for the folks from Matrox and AJA to give us this special presentation.
Matrox
Following in the footsteps of the revolutionary MXO and MXO2, Matrox made a huge splash at NAB 2009 with the brand-new MXO2 Mini. Come see this truly affordable HDMI and analog I/O device, and find out how to capture and cross-convert SD and HD from analog or digital sources, accelerate encoding, and take advantage of affordable HDMI monitors for professional-grade HD monitoring.
H.264 encoding is becoming an indispensable part of many people's workflow, delivering for Blu-ray, the web, and mobile devices. The new Matrox CompressHD is a professional accelerator card for faster than realtime H.264 HD file creation. From iPod to HD, learn how to free up your system resources, and directly export higher-quality H.264 Blu-ray compliant files from Compressor.
AJA
When one of the most respected names in Final Cut Pro hardware decides to make a tapeless recording device, the world sits up and takes notice. That's exactly what happened this year when AJA announced the KI Pro . The KI Pro accepts SD/HD-SDI, HDMI, and analog inputs, and records FCP edit-ready files in 10-bit full-raster Apple ProRes 422. You can up/down/cross convert from practically any camera, professionally monitor on-set, record simultaneously to the camera and tapeless to the KI Pro, and produce edit-ready FCP files, completely eliminating digitizing!
AJA is already well known for great I/O hardware such as the Kona and Io series. Their newest little powerhouse is called the Io Express, and features HD/SD-SDI and HDMI input/output, HD/SD Component output, 2-Channel RCA audio output, LTC and RS422 in a device about the size of a paperback book!
Noise Industries Raffle
Courtesy of our friends at Noise Industries, we'll raffle off a copy of "SUGARfx Urban" (Retail Value $119) effects pack, which allows you to easily composite your own media inside urban environments.
Parking / Directions
The Granite Reef Senior Center is on the west side of Granite Reef (84th Street), just north of McDowell Road in Scottsdale. Ample parking is available. Come in the front entrance, and there will be signs directing you to our meeting in Room 8.

That was my first meet, I didn't realize that so many people attended. That KiPro is some sexy hardware, it was actually a little bit more compact than I expected. To the guy who was seated next to me and suggested adding GPS metadata, that's a brilliant idea.
