tools for new score...

Hi,
I'm pretty new to all this--but I noticed when I try to create a new score in Logic 6 in order to compose directly--the notes tool pallette doesn't work. It's not exactly grayed out, but when I try to drag and drop notes (half-notes, quarter notes, whole, signs, whatever) onto a new score--nothing happens.
Am I forgetting or missing a pre-set or preference setting?
Any advice is appreciated. I'm running this on a G4 in OS X.3--without any midi instrument plugged in.

Hello, go into the arrange and select an audio instrument track, then hit escape then choose the pencil tool, then click to the right on the track and create a region. Now with the region highlighted go into the score editor, you should now see Tab. Drag directly into tab.
Sorry if this is not the help you need but this is what I gather from your post.
See When you have a new score you are starring at a blank screen I presume. When ever you have different regions selected in the arrange then you open the score it shows that region. So most likely you do not have a region. Also if you record a soft-synth part and then select that recorded region in the arrange, you can then open the score and tweak your recording, I also presume you have already done this and are just having a tough time with making new regions.

I was able to create the proper score for input using those exact directions, TedLogic. Thanks. I picked GrandPiano, highlighted it and then went to the score. (I basically just want to compose at this point; I don't have an instrument to play with yet...but I like being able to create something and test it as I go along...)
