Pikes Peak Time Lapse Shot
by Michael Schell on Oct 8, 2009 at 5:02:06 pm

Here's a short nanoFlash video of Pikes Peak (14,400' elevation) using the new time-lapse mode (1 frame per second). The video is shot out of our window on the 4th floor, so please ignore the reflections in the lower portion of the screen. Also, note that the building was shaking quite a lot that day.

Here's the YouTube link:

The incoming video is 720p60, recorded at 220Mbps I-Frame only.

Be sure to click on HD to see the video in best (Mpeg4) quality.

Best-
Mike Schell

So how much processing power is in that little box? Could you incorporate a longer exposure time in the future to add blur and smooth out the timelapse material? Sony's newer HDCamSR cameras are featuring "long exposure" feature for undercranked shots but require an additional card (http://pro.sony.com/bbsccms/ext/cinealta/index.shtml look at SR Motion). Don't know if you could incorporate a process to sample a series of sequential frames from the camera running 23/24/30fps and combine them into one to achieve the blur you'd get in camera from longer exposure times.

Just curious.

Hi Paul,
You get reducing the Shutter speed on camera.

Hi Paul-
We can do a lot of processing in the nanoFlash, but this is outside of our design. But a cool effect, nonetheless.
