Re: best camera to combo with upcoming Flash XDR? by Michael Palmer on Dec 31, 2007 at 4:08:43 pm
Any camera that with HD-SDI, Component or even HDMI out can benefit from this new recorder. However you will need to convert the HDMI and Component to HD-SDI with another converter. The Canon H1 has 3-CCD 1/3 inch chips with HD-SDI out, The Sony V1U has 3-CMOS 1/4 inch chips with HDMI out, The JVC GY-HD250U has 3-CCD 1/3 chips with HD-SDI out, and the Panasonic HVX 200 has 3-CCD 1/3 chips with component out.
The new XD Cam EX1 has 3 Exmor CMOS 1/2 chips for a full 1920x1080 resolution with
HD-SDI out. This EX1 IMO would be the best imager to answer your question.
What ever you choose this new XDR will prove to be the years best new tool in video production.

Thanks, thought so. Ok here's one more hypothetical question. If DVCPRO HD is 100mbps, and the Flash XDR offers 160mbps, then I'm assuming the picture quality will be noticeably better, or somewhat, or just a little?
