Connect MI - SDI Output Question

Is it possible to output component widescreen video SMPTE 259M via the connect mi? I read the white papers and it shows SD-SDI as 259 and HD-SDI as 292? Will the Connect-mi output component in sd-sdi?
My plan is to take my V1U, connect the camera via HDMI to the connect mi and then over SDI connect it to my Vt4 system, the vt4 will not accept smpte 292, only 259.

Hi Jon,
This should work fine. You can connect the HD-Connect MI to your computer and tell it to force standard definition output. This will force the V1U to downscale the video to standard def and the MI will output 259M compliant video/audio.
I believe the camera will give you a couple options for the scaling (edge crop, anamorphic), but you'll need to check the camera settings to verify that. Anamorphic is 16X9 transmitted in a 4X3 picture (rectangular pixels).
Let me know if you have further questions.
Regards,

If you plan on shooting the V1U in HDV make sure you use the SD markers on the monitor and frame the shot preserving SD. I believe the HDV coming off the HDMI is better than the downconvert from the firewire (i-link). I just used my V1 and the MI for an SD project and I forced SD out of the MI and it worked great to uncompressed 8 bit SD format. I recommend this product.
