Support DVI to HD/SD-SDI with MI Box and DVI to HDMI cable?
by mac on Feb 15, 2007 at 9:06:04 am

Hi John-
I've known we can easily convert DVI to HDMI with a gender or cable.
If then, Can I convert the DVI monitor signal to HD/SD-SDI signal with the HD-Connect MI and
the DVI to HDMI cable?
In other words, Can I convert the computer monitor ouput(DVI) to HD/SD-SDI video signal?
I've checked the HDMI input formats in the HD-Connect MI manual.
HDMI
Formats:
1920x1080i, 29.97Hz
1920x1080i, 25Hz
1280x720p, 59.94Hz
1280x720p, 50Hz
720x576i, 25Hz
720x486i, 29.97Hz
YUV 4:2:2 or RGB 4:4:4 for all formats
8-bit video, 24-bit audio at 48kHz

Then, does'nt support the HD-Connect MI other resolution HDMI input from VGA card?
I want to use the HD-connect MI by scan converter.

Thanks

Hi mac,
We are actually in the middle of testing this. We are working on adding the following formats:
1080p24/23.98
1080p30
1080p25
720p60
1080i60
As the computer cannot output 59.94 fps, we are adding the 60 fps. I'll know more next week after I've finished adding the new standards.

Hi mac,
I've just tested some new beta software that supports DVI to HD-SDI conversion. With our mac pro, I was able to get the following formats:
1080i50
1080i60
720p50
720p60
I can't get a PC I'm testing on to work yet, but I think its driver issues with the video card.
The video from the mac looked great in progressive. The interlaced was just ok. I think if the computer had a better video card, the interlaced would look better.
