JVC HDV 720 25P --> 1080 50i 8bit HD or DVCProHD

Hi

Has anyone had any success with capturing HDV at 25fps from JVCs JY-HD101 camera through the HD-Connect LE?
We are getting wierd interlaced frames where each interlaced frame is made up of feilds frome alternate frames of the progressive footage. We've tried DVCpro HD - uncompressed HD / SD - just seems to be the SDI signal coming out of the box. Some frames are effectively proggressive but with a ghosted second field (asthough the two fields have been averaged together) and some are a combination of both - so you have effectively 4 separate ghosts of the movement. The camera is definaitely recording correctly and with a 1/50 (180) shutter..... - this varies accross the footage and wherte it happens seems to be relatcive to which format we are capturing to. (ghosting occurs at different places throughout the footage depending on wheter the Connect Le is resampling to HD or SD)

We've had no problems with the Z1 and sony decks.

We're capturing with a Kona 3

Is the best bet just to capture over component with a Kona LHe?

Has anyone had problems with JVCs HDV codect through the convergent box at 24 or 30fps?

We're doing some tests and it would be great to sort this one out....

Anyone tried something similar?

Thanks

R.

Hi Roland,
We did some testing here. The only place where we saw ghosting was when the box was set for 1080i/59.94 output with a 720p/25 input. With the box set to 1080i/50 output, the video looked great. Is it possible that you have the box in NTSC mode (59.94 Hz)?

Maybe this article might help you (the JVC is mentioned in the FAQ at the end):
