Convergent SD-Connect == Promax ProMedia Converter?

I'm a bit confused here...Promax seems to have all but killed the PMC, which we bought from them 2 years ago to interface with our Avid Xpress/FCP system. I saw the link to the Convergent website on the Promax support page, and am confused as to whether the PMC is simply a rebranded SD-Connect (which I can ostensibly update with the drivers on the Convergent website)
Is this the case? Right now, we feel like we have a $2000 paperweight in our rack.

Hi Mel, Mark-
Yes, the SD-Connect = ProMax PMC. Originally ProMax sold the box under an OEM arrangement through Convergent, but the box is now sold under the Convergent label. It is the same exact product.
Yes, we are very late finishing the uncompressed over 1394. We got sidetracked on the HD-Connect product line for quite some time. We have not dropped the uncompressed development effort, but it was placed on the back burner. We have almost completed the HD-Connect product line and recently put engineering effort back on the SD-Connect. I don't have a definitive date, but we are working on the code.

It was marketed to do that....years ago which was the reason I purchased one. But as Mike Schell indicates above "we are late in developing that.....got "sidetracked" doing something else....Oh yea....BUT they have "NOT DROPPED the idea (THE STATED FEATURE BY WHICH THEY SOLD THE THING) just happen to be peering over the lid of these sidetracked things to that burning pot which is still perched back there on that proverbial "back burner". So be encouraged, I guess, with "we are almost completed ... with those sidetracked products and plan to get back to that pesky back burner stuff sometime soon.... though he does not have a "defintite date"

Hi Mark, thanks for filling me in on that. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. A feature that I will be needing upon installation, with no fixed delivery date. That is a major concern for me. I guess I'll have to see how things shake out as I get closer to purchasing time.

Hi David,
What is the type of video you are trying to convert from firewire to SDI? We make two products, one converts DV video to SDI (SD-Connect) and is fully functional converting DV to SDI (and vice versa). We also make a product the converts HDV to HD/SD-SDI (HD-Connect LE). It is also fully functional converting HDV to SDI (but not vice versa).

Hi Mark, David,
Just for the record, we are using a SD-Connect with one of our Avid Xpress Pro systems. As John states, it does DV firewire to SDI and vice-versa. I will also add, it does it well.

Hi Joe,
The HD-Connect LE takes HDV over firewire (HD MPEG2) and converts to HD-SDI or SD-SDI using an internal scaler. It will not work with standard definition DV over firewire.
The SD-Connect will take DV over firewire and convert it to SD-SDI.
