While Im nor running a n X san I do have a fibre channel card (apple) attached directly via FC to an Ifortrend 12tb Raid,

It works just fine in SL but won't mount in lion. System Profiler sees the card and the Raid box but neither the raid slices or the Partition show up in Lion

Any ideas anyone?

Sean

What is the exact model of your RAID and are you connected via more than one FC cable?

Lion introduced ALUA support which may be at issue here. If you have two fiber connections to your RAID and it does not support ALUA but does support another form of multiplathing, that could be crossing things up. Try running with just one fiber connection or look into changing how the RAID controllers handle multipathing (if they do).

Best,
Andy

Thanks for the response - its an infortrend af12 with 12 TB. Im connected to an Atto Celerity ES 42 ( I swapped out the Apple Card in case it was that) with latest Drivers installed.

The drive is connected by 1 FC cable (I don't need mega speeds) and it all works fine under snow leopard. (I have an SL drive and a Lion Drive installed)

Im wondering if its the disk partitioning but Disk first aid doesn't even see the Raid Slices.

Atto Config sees the card and System profiler sees the card and the Raid unit

Thanks

We have a similar issue and it's definitely a problem with the Infortrend drive unit.

We tried both LSI (Apple) and ATTO FC cards with latest drivers / firmware for the cards and the drive (Infortrend 12TB A08F-G2422). Nothing would work, even thought the drive would mount on other OS's.

We called everyone we know on the issue and then got this from Infortend:

As our compatibility list, your model ES A08F-G2422 supports Mac OS up to 10.6. 10.7 is not qualified yet. Your firmware version is latest. So to support Mac OS 10.7, you need a newer firmware that support 10.7, but I don't know when it will be released.

We're back reving our OS. Luckily we have some spare old licenses.

Apple's reply was "we don't support anything beyond the end of the fiber transceiver". When pressed about what drives are vetted, I couldn't get a solid answer there either. The Promise products "are well known" to them though.
