what does "pink outline" mean for shared volume ?
by Bob Zelin on Aug 7, 2008 at 1:32:18 am

This is going to sound nutty, but I just noticed this on a system.

4 shared volumes (4 seperate RAIDs). The "volume in question" has a PINK outline on the name of the volume on the MAC display, when you click on it. The other 3 volumes do not.

I could not get this volume to be shared to the clients. Ultimately I rebooted the server, and I could share again, but I have no idea of what this PINK outline is, that appears when you click once on this one volume.

Any ideas ?

You sure this isn't just a Finder label color?

there are 4 volumes on the SAN. All 4 are shared volumes. When you click on each volume (with the mouse at finder level on the desktop), each volume highlights.

But on the "volume in question", there is a PINK highlight that surronds the oval that says "Shared Volume 3".

I only noticed this upon adding an additional shared volume to the system (which worked instantly). However, "Shared Volume 3" could not be seen by the clients. After scratching my head, and staring at the screen, I noticed this PINK outline around the label for the volume. When I clicked the other volumes, there was no outline at all.

Ultimately (since I was under pressure, and lost), I rebooted the server, and everything could be seen by all the clients, but this PINK OUTLINE was still present on this ONE volume, even though now it could be shared.

So I say "what the hell is this". I don't even know how to "google" it, I wouldn't even know what to search for (like "pink outline on shared volume in MAC OS-X").
