Raid Admin and Disk Utility report different size
by sarah sher (Red Eagle) on Jul 13, 2008 at 8:00:47 pm

I have a three year old Apple XServe Raid that is connected directly to my computer and isn't shared.

I just added a drive to my array.
One side has (5) 250g drives the other side has (4) 250g drives and (1) 500g drive. (Can't get the 250g anymore, but the 500g should still work as though it's a 250g.)

In Raid Admin 1.5.1 it shows the two arrays properly configured, each side totaling 935gigs. (Raid 5)

But in Disk Utility it shows the two arrays with different sizes:
The array with all (5) 250g is 935gigs, but the array with (4) 250g and (1) 500g is showing a total of 700 gigs.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks,
Sarah

2x2.66 Dual, 8 GB MHz, Kona LHe, Xserve Raid

I'll try re-raiding it next weekend.
Thanks for the advice.
