Hi,

Apologise if this is not the right forum to post this question but it is the closest I can find since there isn't a dedicated XServeRAID forum.

I'm trying to use an XServeRAID with the Apple FC card on a WinXP box and I can't get WinXP to see the LUNs that I've already created with the XServeRAID Admin Tool. The driver for the Apple FC card (which is an LSI Logic card) is installed successfully and during boot up the PC can detect the Apple FC card so everything is running nicely.

My only problem is that WinXP Disk Management doesn't see the LUNs that I've created.

Any advise appreciated.

Are the Luns under 2 TB?, if it's a brand new X Serve RAID you'll have cut back on the lun size.

Hi Shane,

It seems that the biggest LUN we can create is only 2TB. Is that a limitation of the XServeRAID ?

Windows XP has a 2TB LUN limitation, it won't see or let you use anything bigger.

If you are creating LUNs with RAID admin then your only limited by the size of your drives. With X Serve RAID's the biggest lun you can create would consist of 7 drives.

Hi Shane,

Is the 2TB LUN limitation on WinXP only applicable to the XServeRAID or is it a WinXP limitation ?

It's a Windows XP Limitation, Windows Server 2003 and the 64-bit versions of windows do not have this limitation.
