3D Text Bevel Help

I'm trying to recreate the "Tron Legacy" titles at the end of the trailer. Like so:

Yet when I bevel my text and uncheck the "start and end" caps in the Bevel options to make the text, I guess, "open", it screws me over. I can't see part of the beveled text and can't achieve the desired effect. The same thing happens when I try to use "Extrude." I'm still trying to learn 3DS Max...

Hi Brett -
I believe that if you use the "bevel profile" modifier you will achieve that look.
