Help With Fire
by Mike Daniels on May 17, 2009 at 5:25:15 pm

Ok I'm making a space shuttle take off for a project. For the particle system I used a SuperSpray. All I need is to add a somewhat realistic fire texture. I have looked all around and nothing seems to work. Also when I do atmospherics for the fire effect it just renders out black smoke. I am very new to the program so any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would approach it using Combustion instead,... First, create a video sequence long enough for your project needs you can render out, trying to create your source element so undesireable areas are masked off, then use that rendered out sequence as something you can map to a 3D object (such as a plane or depending what you are doing a relative shape like a cone) in Max as a texture. There may be a better way and I am sure there could be lots of ways of approaching it, but to me, it seems straight forward using this method.
