Firestore & P2 cards are corrupting my brain!

okay team. i'm looking at a couple of fun & exciting P2 problems.

FRITZY FIRESTORE: i recorded a crucial verite scene to a firestore with a loose-fitting firewire port. despite all efforts (which eventually included duct-taping the cable in place) the FS-100 lost connectivity every couple of minutes. i couldn't stop shooting to solve until later in the evening. when transferring the files to an external drive, all of the contents appear in order. the # of GIGs matched the amount of shooting, and i thought we were ok. however, final cut will not import the files. understand that loss of connectivity failed to "finish" files. i mounted them BACK on the firestore and ran repair-disk. no effect. BUT i then successfully played back through the hvx-200 with sync audio. i even successfully recorded said playback to a P2 card in the VCR mode! problem solved. i thought. except final cut still won't import the newly recorded P2 contents. no apparent reason. hate life. am planning to playback and then feed that out analogue to an HD deck and lay to tape. any better suggestions?

LOCKED P2 CARDS: shot a half-day to P2 cards, with my P.A. offloading media to an external drive on-location thru her laptop. everything looked normal, but the files were "locked". we have since "unlocked" the files, but final cut doesn't recognize them. these do not copy off to the firestore for playback.

meh??

thanks in advance for your genius solutions to my annoying P2 problems. happy to accept that it's all user error, but very anxious to recover my files.

I'm curious...
Did you shoot in Quicktime mode or P2 mode on the Firestore??
If Quicktime, no conversion is necessary. You don't need to use "log and transfer" in FCP. Just drag them into your project and start editing. Since they did play back fine back through your camera, I'm guessing that is the case.

Was this a rental of an HVX and FS-100, or do you own both/either??
I have seen some real abuse happen to both the camera ports and FS-100 ports from rental cameras. And this combination has been around awhile now.

did you go into every signal file and unlock them? I had that happen where somehow the folder was locked but after i unlocked it, it was still locked. I found out later after LOOKing through the folder that the files all were locked and each had to be unlocked separately. Took forever, the folder might be unlocked and the files are still locked inside the folder.
