FS4 Pro HD & Avid Liquid Chrome
by Robin Lee on Apr 14, 2008 at 11:45:06 am

I recently bought an FS4 Pro HD but cannot import my clips into Avid Liquid Chrome with their origional time code. I've tried the options of RawDV/AVI Type 1/AVI Type 2/Pinnacle etc, all import without a problem but all have an accumulating code i.e. code on new clip takes up from end of previous clip.

I've also tried X-receive (an FPT function within the software) but that only appears to have support for the now defunct Sony DU1.

Anybody have any clues ??

I don't have this model or your software but how do you have TC set up on the Firestore. I know with the FS100 you have to make sure that TC is set to EXT if you want it to pick up the cameras TC instead of the FS internal generator. I sounds like you have it set up as internal and rec run.

Thank you for taking the trouble to respond Michael, believe me when I say that I have the device correctly set up (TC EXT/SYNC mode). I also have the LCD display set to TC and can see the camera's code displayed.

Avid Liquid Chrome is the 'big brother' of Liquid Edition. all were Pinnacle products until Avid came along flourishing their cheque book. For this reason I thought that as the device had 'Pinnacle' listed as an option in the "DV Types Menu" all would be well - how wrong can a chap be!

Since my origional post (repeated on Liquid Chrome forum) I have learned that information such as Time code is stored as a seperate file, the file type created depends on the 'DV Type' selected. At this point it would seem that the Avid Liquid family is not supported after all.

I can't believe that I am the only 'Liquid Family' user who has woken up to the potential of products like the FS4 in which case there must be somebody out there who is clever enough to find a 'workaround' or create a software patch.
