Getting, Muffled Ambient Drum Sounds

So I'm trying to get a good "muffled" drum sound using the kits included with garageband. An example is on the song "I Am Where It Takes Me" by "Black Light Burns" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baIj_bEVEQA). But basically, I just want to know what effects I could use for a drumbeat that would fit with the more "Ambient" genre so that I don't have tranquil ambient music unjustly coupled with heavy loud drums.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

The most basic thing you can do is adjust the EQ to enhance or remove frequencies. Play with it and you'll see. There are all sorts of filters that basically do this in different automated ways but just adjusting the EQ until it sounds "muffled" to you is the most direct way.
You could also use the AULowPass filter.
Aside from that I'd really suggest you just experiment with all the filters and you'll discover all sorts of creative things you can do. There really are a lot of ways to approach getting the sound you want, and usually just experimenting with things results in the most original and interesting outcomes. You have a lot of creative options well beyond any preconceptions of how "Ambient" drums are done.
