Mixing/exporting a stereo track down to a mono aiff file.
by Maurice Brule on Mar 28, 2008 at 7:27:23 pm

Hello everyone, (bear with me, I'm new to this forum)

I'm using GB to create drum tracks using the MIDI editor, splitting each instrument off into separate tracks-some of which would work best as mono tracks-in order to treat each instrument individually (ie, Kick with no reverb, different eq for the cymbals, etc). I then export them to itunes. Once there, I import them into protools as seperate tracks.

The problem I'm having, is that each GB track exports as an interleaved stereo AIFF file. Is there a way to either convert these tracks to Mono within GB, or can I set it to convert specific tracks to mono tracks during the export to itunes process. Or maybe something I haven't thought of? I've tried the GB preferences, but can't find anything there.

Let me know,

Thanks in advance,

Maurice

From GB itself, probably not, that's why they call it an "audio mixdown" (well, you've gotta figure that GB is sort of designed to be a self-contained unit, that you do all of your recording, mixing, effects, etc. in it).

In iTunes:

Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Import Using>AIFF Encoder>Setting>Custom>Channels>Mono
