Lacie Quadra d2 connected to G-SPEED eS raid controller issues

Hi Everyone,
Please Help!!!
I am a pro editor and I am just about to start cutting a doc. I recently bought and installed a G-SPEED eS 4TB RAID array along w/the recommended G-Tech RAID controller. My install went fine and everything is working; however, I would like to use my Lacie Quadra d2 1TB drive to store my project and project elements on. The G-SPEED is configured in a RAID5 and will be used to store all of my HD ftg.
My question is:
Can I connect my Lacie drive to the esata port on the RAID controller? It seems that when I connect my Lacie to the onboard esata port on my PC my system starts acting up. The other connnections on this drive work fine. That being said, I bought this drive specifically to use the esata port w/the faster xfer rate.

Hi Cynthia,
Your Lacie drive should work fine with the G-Tech eSATA controller card. Since you are doing RAID5 with your G-SPEED eS, I assume you have the 4 port card. Single drives work finr with the card. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Gene, thanks so much for the response. Yes, you are correct, I have the 4 port card. FYI, my Lacie works on the esata controller at first, but then weird things start happening and my computer crashes. Also, when I "unplug" my RAID array from the Maintenance area then turn off the unit, I'm cool, but if I then "safely remove" my Lacie drive the alarm goes off. Why? The Lacie isn't part of the RAID array, so why is this happening? Is there a work-around for this short of turning off the alarm. It seems that whenever I have my Lacie drive connected thru an esata port all sorts of problems arise.
