G Tech espeed array not mounting?
by paul strilka on Sep 9, 2009 at 12:41:50 am

Just picked a new G Tech espeed array for my new Macpro with Snow leopard
I bought the Sonnet tempo SATA E4P controller card because I heard it works in SL.
Well- The sonnet driver will not install.
The G-tech drive will not mount.
I only get a blue light on the top drive bay of the G-tech array.
(although at one point I had blue lights on the bottom three and the top was pink??)

I will try to call Sonnet in the AM- but does anybody have a fix for this?

Hi Paul,

You will probably need to create the RAID set and format the drives. Can you see them in Disk Utility? With the Sonnet card, you should see 4 drives. Let me know.

yes- thanks.
I swapped the Sonnet for a G tech controller- and I was able to get the eSpeed to mount.
But know I'm having trouble with my 3 800FW GRAIDS on the same system.
They keep re-setting? They do not dismount- but I hear a click sound.
Then when I go back to my timeline after being away for a short while- I get a spinning beach ball and I have to wait for the drives to spin up.???
I disconnected the espeed drive and the cable.- and I still have this "new" issue" with the 800FW RAIDS.
they never did this until I added the espeed and switched to SL.
I reverted back to 10.5.8 and they are still "going to sleep on me.
What's up?

Hi Paul,

I don't think the G-SPEED has anything to do with your G-RAIDs. Which model and SN are they? What power supply are you using with them.
