G-Raid Mini 2 vs G-Safe
by Marisol Trumpler on Jul 2, 2009 at 5:05:22 pm

Hello,

We are looking for RAID 1 (mirrored) solutions and are considering G-tech products, but a couple of things remain unclear, and we'd appreciate any clarification that may be possible.

How does the G-SAFE 1TB differ from the G-RAID MINI 2 1TB, other than in form?

Is it possible to partition either of these while retaining RAID-1 redundancy? We would like to partition so that we can use half for Super Duper backup and half for Time Machine backup.

Thanks so much.

Marisol T.

Hi Marisol,

Either solution can be partitioned, but if you are using RAID 1, it will already be making 2 backups since that is the nature of mirroring. Using Super Duper will allow you to backup without needing to restore your data as required by Time Machine. Hope this helps.
