G-speed es on Vista
by David Litchfield on May 3, 2009 at 8:49:40 pm

Hello, hoping someone might be able to help.

I'm in the process of switching over to Vista from XP but I cannot get the G-speed es to install. I've followed the installation instructions but they are for XP and vista behaves differently. I can get the Raid controller to appear in Device Manager although it is asterixed, but i'm then unable to update the controller firmware and get the drive showing up?

I'm running a Dell T3400, Q9550, 8GB RAM, Vista Business.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

David

I've got the same problem running Vista 64bit. Looks like the driver loads and the controller shows up in Device Manager, but the flash utility does not find the controller.

Any solutions???

Brent,

I think my problem originated from not having installed the SM Bus driver after the Vista installation. There was a yellow exclamation mark against it in Device manager. I re-installed Vista and immediately installed the SM bus controller for my chipset, which i got from the intel site:

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm

Once this was done the G-Speed installed no problems and was then able to initialize the disk in disk management.

Don't know if you've got the same issue, but hope it helps.

David

Thanks for the advice. I took it and installed the Intel SM Bus driver but didn't see a difference.

I never had any yellow exclamations in device manager to begin with.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Brent
