unmounting drive
by Katie Gates on Oct 23, 2008 at 6:52:06 pm

Help please! I have a GRaid2 drive. Primary use if for FCP files. If FCP sits idle for maybe 1/2 hour (haven't actually timed it) I have a message of off line files, and my G-raid is no longer on the desk top. To get it back, I have to shut it down, and start it back up again. I loop through that to a second drive a (not G-Tech) and that one stays on line.

Is this common? An indication of an eminent drive failure? Fixable? How? I have run the Mac Disk Utility on it, and it doesn't note any problems.

Thanks
Katie

Mac Pro 2.66 Dual Core Intel
2GB memory
ATI Radeon x 1900 XT card
G-Raid2 2 T

Thanks, Joe, I will look into it, but just to clarify, my disc is not just going to sleep, it is unmounting from the desk top. You still think this will solve that?

That's what I thought. Still, the sleeping issue is also frustrating so I will check this out anyway. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. My search was obviously inadequate. It does sound like the same issue.... wish there was a fix other than "get something else!" sighhhh, ain't technology grand
