Demo reel functionality
by Nicholas Toth on Jun 18, 2008 at 3:47:29 pm

Hey everyone,

Put up a new reel, I'd love some feedback. I kinda think its slow and boring, but its a new approach.

Does my site work on everyone's computer? I've been having clients tell me it doesn't work, which of course is not good.

Nicholas,

Worked fine for me (Safari).

Great work, really nicely cut etc.

The way you cut it doesn't seem to blend with the music. I think you edited the shots great but the music needs more energy. I believe I understand your motivation, but people use music with energy for a reason. Give the audio energy and the shots will sell themselves.

Cheers,

RB

Works fine on firefox here. If I can remember in the morning, I'll test it on the dreaded explorer at work.

Worked is a relative idea apparently :)

Webpage:
It opens with a lot of space on top of that small movie window. I looked at the code and it's a javascript mess. You really don't need all of that for something so simple. I would just do it with some simple divs or tables and be done....fogetabout javascript.

Reel:
Music is ...slow yet aggressive. I wouldn't choose it because I think it's a little obtrusive but, that's me. I would lso look at the general pacing of the reel. Overall, felt a little slow to me. I tried it without the music and it was still moving a little too lumberly (is that a word?)
