In the preview window, the picture that i use for the menu looks like as its been degraded (the words look more blury as if its being anti aliased another round). I have set the image to 768x576 (pal) to make sure that theres no resizing but its still the same.
Will the burn outcome of the dvd also look blur?
How do i prevent this? (I tried using higher quality format like tiff but its the same)

what version of DVDit are you using? What color is your text on the menu? What size is the text? did you try the menu scaling options in the menu attributes window to see if those had any effect?
Should be easy enough to see if that happens on a burned disc or in an output volume. you can just place the still in the menu space, set it as a timed still menu in the menu attributes and output a DVD volume. The output should take about a minute. You should then be able to play the volume in your computer DVD player and see what the resulting menu will look like.

I would say that what quality you see on the screen has nothing to do with what its gonna look like when burned,
it depends on your computer graphics settings (which you probably have set to show low quality on the screen in order to speed up the processing), and on your graphics card,
you just have to burn it first to see whats it gonna look like,
